Our client is a world-leading carbon project developer looking for a Forestry Manager to join the Project Development team within our Nature Based Solutions Business Unit.

The Forestry Manager will lead the team responsible for developing new carbon sequestration or removal projects, overseeing their implementation during the investment phase, and ensuring ongoing monitoring throughout the carbon credits crediting period.

Key responsibilities include

  • Organizing the sourcing of new opportunities through interactions with potential partners, and participation in workshops and conferences.
  • Supervising the appraisal of identified opportunities, including partner due diligence, carbon sequestration estimation, economic feasibility, and legal and regulatory context analysis.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s guidelines for project structuring, including business plan development, implementation process and technical relevance approval, organizational setup, contract negotiation, environmental and social impact assessment, and writing and registering carbon standard documentation under international ICROA recognized carbon standards (primarily VERRA and GS).
  • Overseeing the quality of project implementation and portfolio performance, including budget control, implementation follow-up, MRV processes under the standards, carbon credits issuance and transfer, and monitoring report preparation.
  • Developing the Forestry strategy.
  • Managing the team, including HR responsibilities.

Required experience

  • Strong sectoral background and technical expertise.
  • Excellent knowledge of carbon offset methodologies (VERRA, GS, etc.) and associated documentation (PDD and MRV).
  • Relevant experience in project development in developing countries.
  • On-field experience in project implementation.
  • Team management experience with hierarchical responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in budget development and monitoring.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Availability for regular on-field trips.
  • Strong management skills, agile, and committed team player.
