Country Sales Manager
Description of the Company
You will have the pleasure of working for an international group focused on the renewable energy and gas retailing business. The company generates 100% renewable energy and supplies 100% renewable electricity and gas.
They are looking for an experienced individual to take responsibility for managing and developing the sales team in our German subsidiary, which has a turnover of over EUR 10 million and a headcount of approximately 8-12 people. The strategic goal is to become a significant player in Germany’s energy and gas sectors by leveraging innovation and excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction, and using Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) to increase margins and competitiveness. The Country Sales Manager will report to the Regional Leader based outside Germany.
Job Description
The key priorities of the Country Sales Manager will include driving commercial growth, ensuring solid financial performance, complying with the company’s established compliance and transparency policies and procedures, and creating a sense of belonging within the team. Main tasks will include:
- Leading and overseeing the commercial and operational management of the subsidiary in Germany to increase profitability and market share.
- Developing and implementing accountable commercial plans and actions to deliver sales targets and capitalize on growth opportunities within the region, achieving company objectives.
- Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the German energy markets, including sectors, customer types, routes to market, competitors, and key trends.
- Ensuring the sales organization is structured adequately to achieve its distribution objectives and is managed cost-efficiently.
- Building and maintaining relationships with external business partners to achieve sales targets while ensuring high standards of cooperation and business ethics.
- Creating the most effective route to market to build the company’s position in the market and diversify the risk of dependency on a single sales channel.
- Leading the development and implementation of integrated strategies that respond to market trends and client needs, and improving day-to-day business processes.
- Being accountable for sales budget compliance, forecasting revenue generation, sales targets, and P&L. Preparing sales budgets and contributing to overall business plans, identifying potential clients, and implementing and evaluating business and sales processes.
- Continuously developing skills for hiring, training, and leading team members, and ensuring they use effective sales tactics to meet revenue objectives.
- Generating leads and establishing and nurturing client relationships.
- Working closely with support departments located in the Regional Business Support Office.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for the position of Country Sales Manager should meet the following requirements:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in the energy sales industry.
- Experience in energy retail/business management is essential.
- Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English and German.
- Proven record of success with the entire sales process, from planning to closing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel at least 35% of the time.
- Strong business acumen, with good understanding and interpretation of sales figures and a superior capability for building relationships at all levels.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Sensitivity to different cultural norms.
