CGS is exclusively representing an Energy Trading company, given the task to hire a complete new trading team in The Netherlands. Our client just opened their Amsterdam office. They are looking for a Power Trader CWE Region Short Term. It is good to have trading experience on Power Financial Futures. Ideal candidate should be able to identify trading opportunities (location spreads, time spreads, spark spreads) in CWE along the curve. The role requires prop trading skills.

The trading arm has very strong trading acumen, track record and risk management capability and is a leading energy trading company. It is active in the SEE countries Hungary, Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia.

They aim to expand their reach in power and gas markets in Europe, trade environmental commodities globally and become a climate solution partner for corporations. Key responsibilities

  • Preparing short-term prop trading strategies in CWE region
  • Reporting P&L and managing positions on a daily basis
  • Close collaboration with Quant, IT and Market Analysis departments to develop market models

Who are they looking for?

  • The ability to code in Python (preferably), C#, C++, Java. Quantitative modelling skills are highly desirable
  • Must have a solid understanding of fundamentals of Power Markets, ideally CWE region Power Markets
  • At least two years of power trading experience in the CWE region, ideally in France and Germany
  • Understanding of Power Financial Futures and pricing fundamentals
  • Able to develop trade strategies from day-ahead to front-month
  • Strong analytical and programming skills, ability to understand and develop Power Futures valuation models
  • Able to identify new trade opportunities in the region
  • Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision
