On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Senior Environmental Commodities Sales Trader with a proven track record in the environmental markets. The ideal candidate will have an existing network of corporate clients and industry stakeholders, and at least 5 years of experience in environmental commodities trading, sales, and business development. This role is instrumental in driving growth by identifying, structuring, and closing high-value trading opportunities that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and originate new trading opportunities within the environmental commodities markets (renewable energy certificates and carbon credits).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, including sustainability officers, procurement teams, and energy managers, to understand their environmental goals and trading needs, working closely with the origination team.
- Structure and negotiate high-value deals, ensuring alignment with both client objectives and the company’s trading strategies.
- Maintain a deep understanding of environmental regulations, compliance frameworks, and voluntary market dynamics across different regions.
- Contribute to the development of long-term trading strategies and commercial goals in line with the company’s growth objectives.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental commodities trading, sales, or business development, with a focus on carbon credits, I-RECs, GoOs, or biomethane certificates.
- A strong network of corporate clients, energy producers, or sustainability-focused organizations within the environmental commodities sector.
- Proven track record of closing high-value trades and consistently achieving sales targets.
- Strong knowledge of environmental market dynamics, including regulatory frameworks, carbon pricing mechanisms, and renewable energy markets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to identify market opportunities and develop tailored solutions for clients.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a deep commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices.

The recruitment process consists of an intial screening call with a CGS recruitment consultat specilaized in hriing for commercial roles in environmental markets. After the screening call, the first interview will be arranged with the hiring manager (Head of Global Markets), followed by an interview with direct team memebers, and lastly, a formal interview with the C-suite.
