This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ESG professional to play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of our client.

Key responsibilities

1. Develop and Refine ESMS Processes and Procedures

Governance:

  • Develop and document procedures for the formal assignment of responsibility for ESG matters to a Board of Directors member.
  • Ensure that ESG Management is a standing item on the agenda for all Board meetings, including a clear process for how it will be discussed.

Business Ethics:

  • Develop and document specific procedures for implementing business ethics policies, covering AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and anti-corruption measures.
  • Ensure that these procedures are applied consistently to all employees and contractors involved in the project.

Demand-side Integrity Policy:

  • Develop and document the “Demand-side Integrity Policy,” ensuring it aligns with the goal of mitigating reputational risks associated
  • Define specific screening criteria for partners and investors, outlining the procedures for verifying their commitment to the Paris Agreement.
  • Establish a clear process for approving or rejecting potential partners or investors based on the screening criteria.

Sustainable Exit Strategy:

  • Develop and document the “Sustainable Exit Strategy Policy,” ensuring that it outlines a plan for identifying a sustainable future for the project area at the end of the crediting period.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to establish specific

ESMS for Project Operations:

Develop and document detailed processes and procedures for the ESMS, covering all aspects of the project’s activities, from initial planning to decommissioning. This should include procedures related to:

  • Environmental impact assessment and mitigation
  • Biodiversity management
  • Community engagement
  • Labor relations and occupational health and safety
  • Emergency preparedness and response
  • Fire management
  • Monitoring and reporting

2. Verify ESMS Implementation

Monitor and Audit:

  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of all ESMS processes, ensuring adherence to documented procedures.
  • Develop a system for tracking and monitoring the implementation of ESMS processes across all departments and projects.

Identify and Address Gaps:

  • Identify any gaps or weaknesses in the ESMS implementation process and develop corrective action plans.
  • Gather and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of ESMS implementation, identifying areas for improvement.

Document and Report:

  • Prepare regular reports on ESMS implementation progress
  • Document all corrective actions taken to address any identified gaps or weaknesses in the ESMS.

3. Support ESG Reporting:

Data Collection:

  • Gather and compile data from across the company to support the ESG Manager in preparing regular ESG reports to investors and other stakeholders.

Report Preparation:

  • Contribute to the drafting and review of ESG reports, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the information provided.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in developing and implementing ESG or
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing and verifying ESG processes in a fast-paced environment.

Languages:

  • Fluent in Spanish, English, and French (written and spoken).

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of ESG principles and frameworks.
  • Experience with IFC Performance Standards and other relevant international best practices.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools to evaluate ESMS implementation effectiveness.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
