Gas Trader

Our client is a Swiss energy trading house operating on international energy & commodity sectors, based in Lugano. Currently trading natural gas on all major European markets with a physical portfolio, they are also active and will be increasingly so in power in Switzerland, Italy, and throughout Europe.

They are looking for a Gas Trader to join their experienced, down to earth and pragmatic team, helping the firm to continue its organic expansions across the European markets in power and gas. You will join an active Gas Trading desk already achieving on strong PnL targets active on all major European markets, and trading along all stages of the curve.

Responsibilities

• Delivery and expansion of PnL targets trading across the Italian/European Gas and/or Power markets
• Closely monitor and communicate risks on personal gas and power trading book, working with internal stakeholders on timely reporting and monitoring
• Work with senior management on organic growth of the desk, building experience and confidence in personal trading portfolio with the view to develop customer hedging on the curve into intraday and short term power trading
• Manage and build relationships in the gas trading space and ensure PnL targets are met in target markets/asset classes
• Work with internal teams to manage and build supply & demand curves, balancing and optimization with relevant trading tools
• Keep up to date on industry news/events and macro events to ensure profitable and timely capture of trading opportunities in power and gas

Requirements

• 1-3+ years experience in the Gas and/or Power trading space (Gas experience in a range of CWE/SE/EE markets a plus)
• Good understanding of power trading dynamics, particularly in hedging customer demand on the curve
• Fluency in English and ideally Italian (both written and verbal)
• Excellent numeracy skills
• Understanding of risk metrics/management in a power/gas trading setting
• The ability to work in/relocate to Lugano, Switzerland
