Key Skills for Success

This role is central to the organization, driving the identification, sourcing, and successful completion of partnerships with carbon project developers (carbon credit suppliers). You’ll build on existing foundations and step into a strategic commercial position, collaborating closely with their product and scientific teams.

  • Commercial Experience: Minimum 4 years in business development or sales, preferably with experience in structuring sales processes and commercial offers.
  • Carbon Markets Knowledge: Solid understanding of carbon markets, ideally with familiarity in engineered carbon removal projects.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong ability to engage stakeholders, inspire teams, and collaborate cross-functionally with business and engineering teams.
  • Strategic Vision: Demonstrated ability to align sales priorities with company objectives, incorporating customer feedback into strategic decisions.
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable in technical settings, able to grasp scientific concepts and work alongside engineers.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required; German is a plus. Experience in multicultural, international environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Strategic:

  • Develop and implement the sourcing strategy for carbon project developers.
  • Contribute to shaping the commercial offering and optimizing operational processes.

Operational:

  • Identify, negotiate, and finalize partnerships with carbon project developers.
  • Facilitate smooth handovers from sales to certification teams.
  • Represent the company at industry events, building and maintaining relationships within the carbon project developer community.

The Product & Customers

Our client provides a carbon crediting platform designed for engineered carbon projects. Our client’s solution ensures the issuance and transparent tracking of high-quality carbon credits. It consists of two core products:

  1. Certification Platform
    • Facilitates carbon credit issuance by streamlining certification processes for project developers.
    • Automates calculations for carbon credit generation and supports audit management.
  2. Carbon Credit Registry
    • Ensures transparency and traceability across the carbon credit lifecycle.
    • Supports secure transactions between buyers, resellers, and developers, promoting trust and efficiency.

Customers Our client primarily serves two customer segments:

  1. Carbon Project Developers: Typically small to mid-sized enterprises across Europe and beyond, deploying innovative carbon removal technologies. They depend on reliable crediting to finance and scale their projects.
  2. Carbon Credit Resellers & Buyers: Organizations on the demand side, including brokers, marketplaces, and companies integrating carbon credits into their net-zero strategies. They prioritize high-quality, verifiable credits.

Your focus will be on engaging and onboarding carbon project developers while maintaining a solid understanding of demand-side market dynamics to ensure a balanced and effective commercial strategy.
