Our client is a leading energy trading organization is seeking an experienced Senior Power Trader to join their short-term trading team. The role involves active participation in physical and financial power markets, with a focus on optimizing trading strategies across Day-Ahead to front-month horizons.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and execute short-term power trading strategies to maximize profitability while managing risk exposure.
- Monitor and react to intraday and day-ahead market developments, pricing signals, and grid conditions.
- Analyze market fundamentals, weather patterns, and system constraints to support informed trading decisions.
- Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and other traders to refine strategies and leverage cross-team insights.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal risk management guidelines.
- Maintain and optimize a trading portfolio across relevant European power markets.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in short-term power trading (e.g., intraday, day-ahead, or near-term forward markets).
- Strong market intuition and the ability to make quick, high-quality decisions in fast-moving environments.
- Proven track record of delivering trading PnL in relevant market areas.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; familiarity with algorithmic or data-driven trading approaches is a plus.
- Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset.
- Proficiency in market platforms, trading tools, and relevant analytical software (e.g., Python, Excel, etc.).
