Portfolio Manager

Our client is a leading solar company with global presence. From Germany, the company controls all sales activities in Europe – one of the most important solar markets for the company – and develops the business models for the future from here. They are already a full-service provider of clean energy solutions for municipalities, companies and private customers in Germany and Europe: from solar modules and systems, to electricity storage and cloud solutions, to electricity contracts for everyone. From their HQ in Germany, they also runs its business as one of the most experienced partners for the development, construction and financing of large solar power plants.

To expand their team, they are looking for a Portfolio Manager.


▪You manage, optimise and monitor the generation and retail portfolios (electricity, gas and GoO) in short, medium and long-term time horizons
▪You close deals / execute trades with respect to the Risk Management Framework for Energy Trading (VaR, volume limit, credit limit, etc.)
▪You observe the wholesale markets, conduct market analysis and propose heding / trading strategies
▪You calculate procurement prices for our RLM customers (electricity)
▪You hedge power, gas and GoO for our end customers
▪You will develop new trading-related businesses and energy-related services in close cooperation with sales colleagues
▪You support in structuring, pricing complex products (full supply, PPA, options, etc.)
▪You develop further the structured products in the field of renewable energies
▪You participate in 7/7 shift and manage portfolios of the company and 3rd parties and you are willing to work on the weekend occasionally
▪You support in creating transparent reporting structure
▪You develop the trading business further

Your profile

▪You have successfully completed a degree in economics, natural sciences, engineering, finance or equivalent
▪You can already demonstrate several years of professional experience in the field of energy economics, trading & origination, ideally with a proven track record
▪You have excellent communication skills and are a team player who brings a collaborative and win-win attitude
▪You have systematic, analytical, quantitative and commercially oriented way of thinking as well as strong decision-making and persuasion skills
▪You have good knowledge of MS Office, Python and VBA
▪Very good written and spoken German and English skills round off your profile
